Leah Jamison, a senior mass media major, took the photo selected for the cover of the 2022 Inscape Magazine.

Inscape Magazine is Washburn University’s student-edited literary magazine, and this year marks its 50th anniversary. Leah Jamison, senior mass media student, will have her photo featured on the cover.

The launch party to celebrate the 2022 issue of Inscape will be from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at the Cyrus Hotel in Topeka, Kansas. Writers will be there to read their work, and refreshments will be provided.

Inscape features works of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and visual art, with an editor’s choice award given to the best piece in each category. This year, in celebration of its 50th anniversary, the magazine will feature Topeka middle school students, with the young writers speaking predominately on current social issues.

This year’s issue also features an interview with alumnus Gary Jackson, who is currently an assistant professor of poetry at the College of Charleston, South Carolina. In addition to Jackson’s interview, there are poems from his most recent book, “Origin Story,” as well as previously unpublished poems.
