What is the main thing you want to accomplish this year for WSGA?: 

“I’d really like to focus on our outreach to other student organizations on campus and also other students. I want to make sure that what we’re actually working on is what is best for students and is going to be best for our student organizations and how we can support them”.

What is a fun fact about yourself?:

“I am going to Switzerland in October with our Community and Affairs Director Shayden Hanes as a part of the Leadership institute to represent Washburn in a competition”.

 

 

Ariel Smith

Name: Ariel Smith

Major/Minor: major – Elementary Education with an emphasis in early childhood development and special education.

Job: Special Events Director

What is the main thing you want to accomplish this year for WSGA?: 

“I am currently planning homecoming right now and the lecture series for the spring, but besides that I am also trying to come up with more events that we can do in a safe way. I really want people to be able to socialize safely and get to know each other this year.”

What is a fun fact about yourself?:

“I do MMA.”

What is the main thing you want to accomplish this year for WSGA?: 

“I really want to streamline the funding of organizations and increase transparency and understanding of the budget”.

What is a fun fact about yourself?:

“I play the Viola and have since 3rd grade”.

Dylan Babcock

Name: Dylan Babcock

Major/Minor: Double major in Finance/Economics with a Leadership Studies minor

Job: Vice President

What is the main thing you want to accomplish this year for WSGA?:

“Our biggest goal this year is really trying to reconnect with all of the different student organizations across campus. I think over these past few years, there’s been a loss of connection between us and the organizations so we are really trying to build that relationship and start getting more information out to different organizations on what we’re doing and how they can maybe get involved with what we’re doing”.

What is a fun fact about yourself?:

“I have traveled internationally to five different countries without a passport via cruise”.

Shayden Hanes

Name: Shayden Hanes

Major/Minor: Double major in Marketing and Finance and double minor in Political Science and Leadership

Job: Campus and Community Affairs Director

What is the main thing you want to accomplish this year for WSGA?:

“I really want to connect WSGA to students and specifically to student organizations. I believe we have a lot of resources, and we really need to spread the word and not expect people to come to us but we come to them. Another thing I want to do is work on connecting students to the community. Finally, I would really like to bring events to campus that students actually want to see and that they will find meaningful and possibly even challenging in a good way”.

What is a fun fact about yourself?:

“In October I will be competing with a team of students from Washburn in an international leadership competition in Switzerland. Which I am really excited about”.

Wyatt Carter

Name: Wyatt Carter

Major/Minor: Political Science

Job: Communications and Marketing

What is the main thing you want to accomplish this year for WSGA?:

“I would like to use all of our social media platforms to also do outreach to the other student organizations on campus because a lot of people don’t really know what WSGA is or what WSGA can offer to their organizations or their students and those organizations so I definitely want to get our name out there and get everything that we offered those student organizations, or make them aware of all the benefits they have through us”.

What is a fun fact about yourself?:

“I’m going to law school in the fall!”

Quinn Leffingwell

Name: Quinn Leffingwell

Major/Minor: Double major in Psychology and Religious Studies with a Minor in Leadership Studies

Job: Administrative Assistant

What is the main thing you want to accomplish this year for WSGA?:

“I just want to stay as organized as possible because with my job being what it is, me staying organized makes everyone else’s jobs easier. My job is emailing people, responding to calls, ordering name plates and stuff like that, so if I stay as organized as possible and people are planning events or the like it makes their job a lot easier”.

What is a fun fact about yourself?:

“The KU basketball Coach Bill Self, painted my house in Oklahoma back in the 80’s. Self played basketball at Oklahoma State, and I am from Stillwater. And Self had really bad grades, and so the story goes that his mom made him get a job and that job was to paint houses. One of the groups of the neighborhoods he painted was my neighborhood”.

Jaron Caffrey

Name: Jaron Caffrey

Major/Minor: Double major (no minor), Economics and Political Science

Job: Chief of Staff

What is the main thing you want to accomplish this year for WSGA?:

“I really want to work on recruiting a diverse group of people to serve on the WSGA Senate.”

What is a fun fact about yourself?:

Megan Dorantes

Name: Megan Dorantes

Major/Minor: Public Administration with a triple minor in Spanish, Leadership Studies, Latin and Caribbean Studies.

Job: Diversity & Inclusion Director

What is the main thing you want to accomplish this year for WSGA?:

“I would say more events, more conversations centered towards diversity and inclusion, and more education and learning”.

What is a fun fact about yourself?:

Adam Young

Name: Adam Young

Major/Minor: Political Science

Job: Legislative Director

What is the main thing you want to accomplish this year for WSGA?:

“On campus we have a lot of students who are passionate about a lot of different issues for a lot of different reasons so I want to make sure we are writing very professional and powerful resolutions to make sure that those issues are being heard by the administration and the community as well”.

What is a fun fact about yourself?:

“The most unique thing about me is I have been to two AFC Championship games. I have been to a World Series game and then I’ve been to the Super Bowl parade, the World Series parade and then the NCAA Basketball Championship parade in 2008”.
