Washburn athletics: weather moves Fall Classic to Maryville

You may already have heard the unfortunate news that the Ichabod football team’s Fall Classic at Arrowhead Stadium has been moved to Northwest Missouri State University on Saturday due to an NFL ruling regarding the threat of inclement weather. You still have a chance to cheer on the Ichabods in a huge match as the 13th-ranked volleyball team hosts No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney Saturday at 7 p.m. at Schendel Court in Lee Arena. It’s Senior Day and our final regular season match. All-American Marissa Cox will be honored before the game as she plays her final game in Lee Arena.

Tickets are free for Washburn students and we want a huge crowd! Adults are $5 and senior citizens and students K-12 are $3. This matchup has turned into a rivalry in the last couple years and it will be no different Saturday. Both teams are fighting for final spots in the NCAA Central Region tournament. The Ichabods are eighth in the region and UNK is sixth. The top seven teams will likely get into the regional.

Join us in Lee Arena Saturday night for this top-15 matchup that promises to be an exciting one! Help us PACK LEE ARENA!

Buses originally scheduled to travel to Arrowhead Stadium will not travel to Maryville. If you purchased tickets or packages  (bus rides, tailgate passes, parking passes) for the Arrowhead game, you can get a refund at your point of purchase. This includes Washburn Alumni Association and Student Activities and Greek Life packages.

We apologize for the inconvenience of this unforeseen weather event. You can still listen to the football game at 1 p.m. Saturday on 580 AM WIBW or watch video (fee) or stats at www.wusports.com/live. And of course, if you plan to travel to Maryville, be safe and be loud, then head back and join us in Lee Arena!
