An intense moment in the basketball game as players leap toward the ball. The scoreboard lit up as spectators watched the players jump for the ball in a thrilling match.

On the evening of Nov. 2, the Student Recreation & Wellness Center, or SRWC, buzzed with energy as students gathered to compete in intramural basketball games.

The first scheduled intramural three-against-three basketball game was set to feature Phi Delta Theta against team Washed Up. However, the game couldn’t go on as planned because one of the teams couldn’t make it due to a personal issue.

The second game of the evening was between the Air Ballers and the Top G’s. Both teams showcased their skills, and it was evident that they had put in a lot of effort. In between the matches, there were some humorous moments involving the basketball such as when the ball accidentally hit an audience member on the head. Surprisingly, the spectator was excited and promptly returned the ball to the players, eliciting laughter from the crowd.

Among the audience members was Elena Simmons, a junior political science major. She was at the event with her friends and expressed her love for the games.

“I enjoy watching college games because everyone comes together to play and it’s really fun to watch. It also provides engaging activities for students to get involved on campus,” Simmons said.

One of the Air Ballers team players, Taylor Vandeloo, a senior nursing major, shared her perspective on the game. She mentioned that she had been playing basketball since a young age, though she didn’t watch professional basketball or the NBA. She thoroughly enjoyed watching college games and cherished the opportunity to do so with friends.

In the end, the Top G’s emerged victorious by winning the first two games and ending the set.
