Led by Conner, volleyball team moves up in the rankings

Going into last week’s matches, the Ichabod volleyball team was ranked no. 11 by the AVCA. After defeating Emporia State, Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney, the volleyball team moved up in ranking by four spots to 7th. The volleyball team also received two first place votes.

The MIAA is well represented as there are three other schools from the MIAA in the rankings. Ahead of Washburn is Nebraska-Kearney, coming in at no. 6. Following the Ichabods at no. 14 in ranking, is Central Oklahoma. Rounding out the MIAA is Central Missouri which ranks no. 15 in the nation.

Helping lead the volleyball team is Shayla Conner. Conner received her fourth MIAA Athlete of the Week honor. The only other volleyball player to receive four Athlete of the Week mentions is Marissa Cox.

Not only is the volleyball team gearing up for the playoffs, the team enters its final home stand of the year.

They will face Lindenwood Friday, Oct. 26, then they battle Central Missouri. For the last two games of the regular season they will take on Central Oklahoma and Pittsburg State. All of these games will be played at Lee Arena.
