Information about Socks and the City.

The collection bin for Yak and Yarn’s 2nd annual “Socks and the City” is getting fuller by the day. This year because of the pandemic, agencies have not been receiving as many donations. This is due to people limiting their interactions. Just a moment of time can make a difference for someone else.

This event raises awareness of the challenges the less fortunate have keeping their feet warm during the winter months. Stop in to donate before the end of Oct-TOE-burr to help Yak and Yarn reach their goal of 3,000 pairs of new socks.

The collected socks will be donated to the following organizations: Boys & Girls Club, 501 School District, VA Medical Center, Rescue Mission, Let’s Help, and Doorstep.

Donation locations include: Yak ‘n Yarn: located at 21st and Fairlawn (inside Fairlawn Plaza Mall), Fairlawn Plaza & Mall Businesses: Reuter’s Pedorthics, The Hub, Dance Factory, Eagle Car Wash and the Classic Bean. Classic Bean: 2125 SW Fairlawn Rd or 722 S Kansas Ave. Topeka City Hall: First floor by the elevators – 215 SE 7th St HyVee: Wanamaker Rd and 29th Street Petland: West Ridge Mall – Topeka
