WU soccer wins 4-1 against Colorado State-Pueblo

The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team jumped out to an early lead Saturday scoring its first goal of the season in what turned out to be a 4-1 victory against Colorado State-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo.

Senior Keeley Lambeth scored first for the Lady Blues at the 35:43 mark of the game from an assist from Stefanie Stuever.

The Thunderwolves tied it up and made it 1-1 at the half, but the Lady Blues scored three more goals in the second half to pick up the win

Freshman Leah Talley knocked in the go-ahead goal with an assist from freshman Tia Stovall at 55:50 before senior Ashley Taylor and redshirt freshman Brandy Hirsch made unassisted goals midway through the second half. The Washburn women outshot Pueblo 20-5.

The Lady Blues are now 1-1 on the season and will next play at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7 against Newman in Wichita.
