On Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, Zeta Tau Alpha hosted a “Painting with ZTA” event in Henderson Hall. The event lasted from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
The room was set with pink coloring cloths on a table, and all the attendees were encouraged to paint something.
Ashton Meier, ZTA vice president of recruitment, spoke about the event.
“We are painting with members of Zeta Tau Alpha and anyone who is interested in joining our painting canvases, just talking about Zeta and just having a lot of fun,” Meier said.
Meredith Barry, sophomore forensic biology major, has been a member of ZTA since September 2024. In this time, she has been an active member involved in different activities within ZTA.
“We’ve done a lot of events for our philanthropy, which is breast cancer, education and awareness,” Barry said. “We’ve done runs and walks and different events to raise money. We also do our philanthropy week where we like to sell things during the week to donate money to our philanthropy.”
ZTA has different events such as sisterhoods, permanent jewelry events, study nights with brunch themes and various events with fraternities and sororities.
Stevie Martin, sophomore communication major, enjoys attending ZTA events for the connections it builds.
“I think it was a good way to bring all of us together as well as meet other people who are interested in joining ZTA,” Martin said. “I just like to be around all my sisters all the time because I love them so much, and we get to be creative and share our ideas with each other.”
ZTA has different percentage nights where they partner with different businesses in Topeka to have a portion of the sales go towards different organizations. Their next one is March 4 at Chipotle, from 4 to 8 p.m.
“Our next event that is open to the public is our philanthropy week, which is on April 14 through April 18,” Meier said. “During this week, we’ll have different fundraisers and events to raise money for breast cancer awareness and education.” .
