There are many places to get desserts in Topeka. Shital Tamang, a reporter for the Washburn Review, shared some of her favorite places to visit and taste from their menu.

I am a huge fan of desserts and I like to taste and try desserts at every cafe I visit. It is kind of my hobby to go and eat desserts in cafes or bakeries. There are a lot of places in Topeka with a great ambiance that serves you delicious desserts such as Hazel Hill Chocolate, Cracker Barrel, Shana Cakes and Blackbird.

These are some of the places I have visited desserts and would recommend you go and try.

The first place that I would recommend is Cracker Barrel, located at 1421 SW Ashworth St, Topeka, KS. Although the options for desserts are not many, the ones available are delectable.

I am a huge fan of cheesecakes, so I tried their mini strawberry cheesecake with a graham cracker crust, and it was flavorful. They also have a wide range of options for breakfast, snacks, lunch, drinks and coffee. The store is open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and remains busy during lunch and dinner time.

Another place would be Hazel Hill Chocolate at 714 South Kansas Ave. They have been serving the best freshly homemade chocolates in Topeka since 2006. Hazel Hill Chocolate offers a great assortment of chocolates.

My favorite item from their menu was the chocolate-covered apples and strawberries. They were the best and very pleasing to me. Hazel Hill Chocolate is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This place is a must for those who are chocolate lovers.

Shana Cakes is a local bakery in downtown Topeka at 435 S Kansas Ave. The bakery is open Wednesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on and by appointment on Tuesdays.

It’s a very cute and cozy place with great service and reasonable prices. I had tried brownies and a chocolate Swiss roll. Both deserts were delicious. They serve a wide range of bakery items like cookies, bread, cupcakes, brownies and bars.

All of these places have excellent dessert selections, and I would recommend you to visit and try them.
