Football team falls to 1-2 after loss to Fort Hays

WASHBURN UNIVERSITY

The football team traveled to Fort Hays last Saturday to take on the defending MIAA Champions, the Fort Hays State Tigers. The Ichabods went nose to nose with the Tigers and just barely came up short losing 30-27.

The Tigers grabbed a 30-10 lead with 9:45 left to go in the fourth quarter. Washburn would mount a comeback after a touchdown run by Hunter Browning that would bring the score to 30-17. The Ichabod comeback would end though after Linebacker Austin Tillman intercepted the ball and took it 61 yards back to the house.

The football team is now 1-2. They will take on the University of Central Missouri who is coming off a 51-14 win over Missouri Western for Family Weekend. The game will be at 1 p.m.
