Faculty Senate, Staff Council & WSGA prepare to host listening session

A recent social media post regarding a part-time student and continued campus discussion has prompted Washburn University President Jerry Farley to send out a campus-wide email to students and faculty.

The email which was sent from the WU Announcement address states that recent student experiences, more particularly the experiences of students of color, are not in line with the history and values that Washburn University strives to provide its students.

This climate has prompted a listening session that has been scheduled at 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 18 in the Convocation Hall at the Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center.

For those who are unable to attend, a link will be provided where individuals can submit feedback. According to the email, the link will go live following the session on March 18.

“We will be hosting a listening session to gather information for the university community going forward. It is my hope that you will attend this open forum,” Farley said in the email.
