Schlitterbahn Waterpark hosts “American Hero Week”

To celebrate National Military Appreciation Month, Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City, Kan. is hosting “American Hero Week” to honor people who have previously served in the military or are serving the U.S currently.

“American Hero Week” starts Friday, May 23 and ends May 30. This event is one of more than 150 events that are being hosted throughout the nation in honor of National Military Appreciation Month. Military, veterans, police, firefighters and EMTs are eligible for free admission to Schlitterbahn Waterpark with a valid ID.

Immediate family can get in for $20.99 plus tax, which is half of general admission. Children ages 2 and under can get in for free. Heroes must show their ID cards at the park entrance during May 23-30 and must use the tickets the same day as received.

Schlitterbahn is also offering military discounted tickets at select active-duty military bases throughout the season. These bases include:

Offutt Air Force Base, Fort Leavenworth Infantry Training Regiment, Fort Riley Infantry Training Regiment, McConnell Air Force Base, Whiteman Air Force Base, Rosecrans Air National Guard Base, Scott Air Force Base and Tinker Air Force Base. For those who do not live near the bases, each office will send tickets to those that provide military documentation.

Schlitterbahn also offers military discounts at the park’s entrance. Tickets will cost $35.99 plus tax for general admission and tickets for children and senior cost $27.99 including tax. However, the better discount deals are the ticket purchases at the participating bases and during “American Hero Week.”
