Yearbook Cross Country Recap- Runners Wrap Up Middling Season
March 2, 2017
This year, the cross country team turned in what could be described as disappointing. The best placing the women’s team had was fifth out of eight teams at the first event of the season, the SBU Invite. The next event, the Woody Greeno Invitational, saw the team finish eighth out of twelve teams. They finished seventh out of eight in the Rim Rock Collegiate Classic and last out of 15 at the FSHU Open. They finished last at the MIAA Championship. The team performed better at the NCAA Regionals, but still only placed 23rd out of 32 teams.
The men’s team did better throughout the season. They began the season with fifth place at the SBU Invite. Then they finished 7th out of 16 at the Woody Greeno Invitational, fifth out of eight at Rim Rock, and 15th out of 19 at FSHU. Unfortunately, the runners’ worst performance came in the MIAA Championships, where they finished eighth out of ten teams. The season came to a close with a decent placing of 16th in the NCAA Regionals and an impressive 58th place out of 242 schools in the NCAA Championships.
