Bod brief: Washburn volleyball into the NCAA Semifinals after 3-1 victory

After advancing to the NCAA National Championships, Washburn volleyball was not ready to go home as they defeated the seventh seed West Texas A&M University 3-1. The win leaves the third seeded Ichabods just two matches away from capturing the second national championship in program history.
Senior middle hitter Allison Maxwell led the way with 16 kills while fellow senior, outside hitter Genna Berg, knocked down 14 kills. Also in double-figures were senior middle hitter Kelsey Gordon and freshman outside hitter Jalyn Stevenson, who each had 11 kills while Stevenson added 12 digs.
Senior setter Allison Sadler continued to set attackers up, notching 44 assists while adding 11 digs for a double-double. In the back row senior libero Faith Rottinghaus led the team in digs with 28.
The win is Washburn’s 30th of the season and will earn them a semifinal match against the winners Daemen College and Western Washington, which is played directly after the Ichabods match.
The final four match will take place Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. central time and will be streamed on the NCAA website as well as shown at many local venues.
