Adviser’s Corner: Union Daze

This is not your typical news story, but I wanted to provide you with some information about what’s happening in Student Media.

First of all, THANK you to all of the terrific people who stopped by our tent today. Our mission was to increase the visibility of the Washburn Review app. It’s a little tricky because you must search “College News Source” for the app. When you first open the app, you then search for Washburn. You will want to pick a couple of the notifications so you don’t forget about checking us out.

Students who downloaded the app were able to spin our “ticket wheel” and earn tickets to put into our three grand-prize drawings. Before I announce those winners, I just want to thank the students who spent part of their day representing Student Media. Nothing makes me happier than watching the Student Media team connect with students. Before this event, a team of students brainstormed, and they decided to offer three prizes: a bag of snacks, $25 in Bod Bucks and some general Washburn items we found at the Ichabod Shop.

During the event, we met a group of women living together who all share the first name, Emily. We met student athletes, faculty and staff. A group of preschoolers was thrilled to receive Student Media stickers. One of the boys said, “We are having such a good time!” I like to think that we saw some future Ichabds on our campus today.

Winners:

Lauryn Scott, Jessica Walker and Jessica Kopf all won $25 in Bod Bucks, which will be applied directly to their iCards. Orignally, Student Media planned to draw only two winners, but we decided to draw three since there was such a great turnout.

The bag of snacks winner was Ashley Perez, and Perla Soto won our Washburn stuff. Both of these women can pick up their items from the Student Media office in the basement of the Union.

Congratulations to our winners! And, thanks again to those who were out and about today. It was a great time to sit and relax for a bit with a great group of students within Student Media, MM424 and the larger Washburn community.
