As many of you are now aware, there was an incident on campus recently involving an alleged sexual assault. When the incident was reported to the Washburn Police, they made the determination that – given the circumstances of the case – there was no threat to the campus community. As a result we did not issue an iAlert. I can’t give you any further information about the incident itself since there is an ongoing investigation, but I concur there was no threat to the campus community involved and therefore, our police department properly followed our published policy in not issuing an iAlert in this matter.

We will begin, however, a thorough review of our timely notification policy.
