Washburn Student Government Association celebrates Snacks and Bracelet Making in the main level of Memorial Union March 6. The event was to give students stress-relieving activities and food, including soft pretzels with cheese.

Besides bracelets, the audience uses the material to build their favorite DIY jewelry. Sebastian Hernandez-Montijo, freshman psychology major, shared that the polymer-beads charm necklace she made was based on colors that stand for different elements, such as blue for water.

George Burdick, president of WSGA, joins the event to communicate with the audience and introduce the purpose of the event. It took the team a couple of hours to book the event, food and design a flyer.

A bracelet can be made with a single string, and the audience can pierce the bead slowly into the middle. A bracelet took more than twenty minutes for the audience to complete a single product.

Audience members can also learn about new hands-on experiences of creating their own unique bracelets. This was an activity for individuals or small groups searching for an enjoyable and fulfilling creative experience.

This is also the first time the WSGA has hosted a bonding event that focuses on bracelet making. Polymer beads were the materials used, which the audience could show their creativity and personality in their DIY artworks.

The meanings of string bracelets are protection, luck and connection. With the colorful strings, the audience could also make friendship bracelets with various styles and patterns.

Multiple types of polymer beads such as symbols, letters and seed beads can be used to make friendship bracelets. The audience could build their bracelet based on their name or a special letter they want.

The students can take their bead bracelet home or give it to a friend. The target audience was 40 students, and the event exceeded that by 30 more.
