The Mulvane Art Museum presents the opening of its exhibition of work by students with 41 selections of artwork. The reception occured from 5-7 p.m. in the Mulvane Art Museum Dec. 6.
-
Kamryn Dollahon, senior art major, stands next to one of her artworks. She made a self-portrait using oil painting as her medium.
-
Inside the museum stands a separate room for artwork made by alumni. Rachel Epp Buller, professor of art and design at Bethany College, reviewed all the submissions at the beginning of the year for the exhibition.
-
Hui Liao, an exchange graduate student, stands next to her oil painting, “Glass and Stems.” This piece was her first-ever painting.
-
The exhibition shows artwork from different media including collage, digital art, charcoal, ceramic and many more. There were over 75 submissions for the exhibition to finally showcase to the public.
-
Most of the people at the exhibition are students who made the artwork, their parents, art professors and some visitors. People started to slowly crowd the museum with snacks and drinks for the refreshment.
-
Eliezer Panecatl, sophomore fine arts major, shares his artwork, “Galaxy Fingers.” Panecatl used oil painting as his medium with rough peaks covering the artwork.
-
Unique objects like metallic wings, dresses, wood houses and glass pieces are brightening the walls of the Mulvane Art Museum. Each participant had the chance to submit at most four pieces for their art submission at the beginning of the year.
-
This year, unlike the usual exhibition opening around March, the exhibition opened in December due to the museum’s recent renovation. Visitors took their time to enjoy the exhibition and later watched the award distribution.
-
A reception happens at the museum on the first Friday of every month. Some of the works were done as a class assignment with the help of art instructors.

Stuti Khadka, Editor-in-Chief – Washburn Review
Hey everyone, I’m Stuti and I am the Editor-in-Chief for the Review. I am a junior Nursing major and will be going through a wonderfully dreadful two years of Nursing School. I will either be in the office or probably crying over my classes. I like to draw, read and write. My recent obsession has been playing scribble.io and listening to KATSEYE.
