Pedro Zeijlmans van Emmichoven, lecturer of physics and astronomy, teaches on the applied science curriculum at Amsterdam University before coming to Washburn. International House hosts “Reflections on Teaching in Amsterdam” event Feb. 28 from noon to 1 p.m. This event was free and open to the public.

The International House frequently brings a cultural perspective to the Washburn and Topeka communities so people can be better informed of what’s happening in other countries. Washburn students had a general view of different educational options if they wanted to study abroad.

Zeijlmans van Emmichoven will work in the department of physics and astronomy until the beginning of May. He struggled in the early part of the fall semester as he had trouble with his passport, online instruction and the diversity of students.

The presentation given by Zeijlmans van Emmichoven discussed how he mentored and supervised his students’ graduation projects. Zeijlmans van Emmichoven left with an impression of friendly colleagues and a well-equipped campus.
