Washburn track and field starts outdoor season off strong at ESU relays

  • Shanice Hutson, freshman in entrepreneurship and innovation, places the shot put against her neck before her attempt in the shot put event. Hutson placed second in the event with a top throw of 13.98 meters.

  • Mitchell Thompson, freshman in business, blows on his hands before his pole vault attempt. Thompson finished the event with a top height of 4.40 meters.

  • Jaden Magana, sophomore in environmental biology, spins to throw the shot put in the shot put event. Magana finished with a top throw of 13.99 meters and also placed tenth in the discus throw with a throw of 47.04 meters.

  • Davion Gardenhire, junior sprinter, races toward the finish line in the 100-meter dash. Gardenhire finished with a time of 10.90 seconds and was also on Washburn’s 1600 sprint medley team, which placed first.

  • Adriel Holloway, freshman in music performance, turns in the ring to throw the discus. Holloway finished the meet with a throw of 35.56 meters in the discus throw and 48.13 meters in the hammer throw.

  • Zac Chandler, senior in kinesiology, flies over the bar in the pole vault event. Chandler finished the meet with a top height of 4.40 meters.

  • Ilaria Villa, freshman in kinesiology, turns to begin her throw in the discus event. Villa finished first in the event with a throw of 42.42 meters.

  • Jadyn Falley, freshman in biology, places tape on the runway to prepare for the javelin throw. Falley finished the javelin event with a throw of 38.74 meters.

  • Tyler Mooney, freshman in computer science, races down the track in the 100-meter dash. Mooney finished with a time of 11.33 seconds and also competed in the 4×400-meter relay.

  • Braden Rose, senior in biology, spins to throw the discus. Rose placed seventh in the discus throw event with a top throw of 48.20 meters.
