Washburn track and field starts the spring semester with a bang

Jordan Dale, freshman high jumper, soars over the bar in the high jump. Dale finished second in the high jump with a top jump of 2.05 meters, breaking the previous meet record of 2.04 meters. Lily Johnson, senior in environmental biology, also broke a meet record in the one mile run with a time of 4:59.17.

Wyatt Heiman (middle), junior in business, prepares to run the 60-meter dash prelims. Heiman finished fourth in the prelims with a time of 6.86 seconds.

Kim Smith, freshman in sports management, sprints in the 60-meter dash prelims. Smith placed 31st in the 60-meter prelims and went on to take first place in the women’s long jump.

Josie Hickerson, junior in nursing, sprints toward the bar in the pole vault event. Hickerson ended the event in 13th place.

Jacob Herr (left), sophomore in marketing, races toward the finish line in the 600-yard race. Herr finished the race in 13th place.

Mitch Miller, senior in biology and pre-med, spins to throw the shot put. Miller placed fourth in the shot put event and took third place in the weight throw.

Shanice Hutson, freshman in entrepreneurship and innovation, pivots toward the center of the ring as she throws the shot put. Hutson placed second in the shot put with a top throw of 14.00 meters.

Daniel Little, freshman distance runner, runs around the track in the 3,000-meter run. Little finished 60th with a time of 9:48.40.

Roni Simeon, sophomore in kinesiology, flies over the bar in the high jump. Simeon finished 13th in the high jump with a top jump of 1.50 meters.

Eve Weber, sophomore distance runner, races around the track in the 3,000-meter run. Weber finished ninth in the event with a time of 10:41.84.
