Black excellence ball celebrates black history month
Washburn’s Black Student Union will be hosting their Black Excellence Ball from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28 in the Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center. The Black Excellence Ball is a social and networking opportunity for everyone to come and meet new people.
“I want students to attend for a great night of music, dancing and looking extra nice,” said Muffy Walker, BSU’s faculty advisor. “With the stress and isolation of the pandemic, the Black Excellence Ball offers an evening of fun that everyone needs now.”
The Black Excellence Ball is not exclusively for BSU students.
“It’s a celebration of finishing out all of our events, and we want everyone to come and enjoy the Ball just like the other events we’ve hosted this month,” said Tonyce Jackson, BSU’s president.
This is the chance for students to show off with everyone dressed up and looking amazing at this event rather than wearing their everyday clothes.
“We want to bring BSU students together to relax and have fun after all the planning for the previous Black History Month events,” Jackson said.
The event is free with a Washburn ID. The BSU is asking all others for a $5 donation at the door.
