The Washburn volleyball team followed up a 3-1 quarterfinal victory with another four set victory in the National Semifinal Match Dec. 10. The Ichabods defeated Western Washington University, advancing to the National Championship Match.

Washburn was led in kills by senior middle hitter Allison Maxwell, who had 15. Fellow senior middle hitter Kelsey Gordon knocked down 14 kills. Senior outside hitter Genna Berg recorded a double-double with 12 kills nad 15 digs while the other outside hitter, freshman Jalyn Stevenson, had 11 kills.

In charge of the offensive attack was senior setter Allison Sadler who notched her fourth 50 assist match of the season with exactly 50. Senior libero Faith Rottinghaus cleaned up everything on defense, finishing with a match-high 26 digs.

In the finals the Ichabods will face the University of Tampa in the Spartans home city, who are also the 2018 national champions.

The match will take place Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. central time and will be streamed on the NCAA website as well as shown locally at Johnny’s Tavern, The Pennant, Skinny’s Sports Bar and Grill and Evergy Plaza.
