Mass media department hosts its annual WIFI Film Festival

The Washburn International Film Institute is a festival that promotes and celebrates film productions on an international scale. The festival highlights unique voices from around the world and reaches a wide audience.

The idea for the organization came when Matthew Nyquist, associate professor of mass media, a director and filmmaker, joined the mass media department in 2017. Through his experience and background in Hollywood, he created the vision for WIFI and eventually in 2018, established the organization.
