Football

The Washburn football team fell to Central Oklahoma 34-0 last Saturday. This is the first time Washburn has been shut out since Sept. 20, 2014 against Pittsburgh State. The Ichabods didn’t find the red zone, meanwhile Central Oklahoma chipped away by putting points on the board in every quarter for the victory. Washburn will return home Saturday, Oct. 27 against Emporia State for the schools’ 115th meeting all time. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. in Yager Stadium.

Volleyball

Following their first loss of the season, the volleyball team bounced back for three wins last week. On Tuesday, they defeated Emporia State, 3-1, dropping only the third set. On Friday they traveled to play Fort Hays State and promptly swept the Tigers 25-17, 25-19 and 25-16. Saturday, they proved their early season upset of top ranked Nebraska-Kearney was no fluke. This time, with the Lopers ranked No. 2, the Bods snapped UNK’s 66 match home win streak with a 3-1 victory, 23-25, 28-26, 25-16 and 25-22. Washburn will wrap up the regular season with four home games starting Friday against Lindenwood.

Soccer

Washburn soccer played at home this past weekend, splitting a pair of games against Central Missouri and Lindenwood. On Friday against Central Missouri, the Bods were unable to find the back of the net and the Mules scored two in the first half and two in the second half to win 4-0. On Sunday against Lindenwood, an early second half goal by Josie Rimmer was the difference as the Ichabods made the goal stand to win 1-0. Washburn will wrap up the regular season with a home game against Emporia State this Friday and an away game on Sunday against Fort Hays State.
