A concerning issue: Mental illness in adults continues to rise with each passing year. The Topeka Public Library will be addressing this on April 5.

The Topeka Public Library (TPL) will be holding a discussion over Zoom titled “Deliberative Conversation: Mental Illness in America” on Monday, April 5 from 11 to 1 pm.

The library believes that it is important to discuss tough issues such as practicing deliberation through considering perspectives, listening with empathy and respect and weighing trade-offs of possible actions.

The discussion will be focusing on the mental health problem in America that is growing with each passing year. Three options will be presented during the discussion: put safety first, ensure mental health services are available to all who need them and let people plot their own course.

For more information about this course and to register for the event, visit the TPL website here.
