Katrina survivors share their stories in new documentary film

Washburn University

TOPEKA – Stories of those who lived through the destruction of hurricane Katrina will be told in the documentary, “Survival Strength Starting Over,” to be shown at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Mabee Library on the Washburn University campus. No admission is charged; donations will be accepted. Patricia Federico, director of the film, will participate in a question and answer session following the showing. While visiting Louisiana in the spring of 2008, documentary filmmaker Federico became captivated by the Katrina stories still being told by the residents who survived the storm.
