Since childhood we have been taught to be perfect. Society quietly sets a timeline for every person: specific age to go school, specific age to graduate and marriage. If a person misses this timeline or chooses a unique path then they have mostly been judged.
The constant pressure to meet society’s expectations often leaves people feeling anxious and inadequate. For most, success is always observed by age rather than focusing on their personal growth and knowledge. Society pressures a person to complete things at a certain time which can cause problems in personal growth and getting knowledge.
Everyone is different and everyone has their own personal choices. Each person has a different ability to get the same knowledge. People should deserve respect for their own personal choices, even though their path is different. Some people may take longer to finish their education, while others may choose to work, care for family members or explore different interests. These choices do not mean that they are incapable or they are not successful in life.
Most of the time society describes success with the fixed milestones such as college degrees, careers and ultimately marriage. Success is not a fixed destination that has to be reached at a certain time. When people are allowed to follow their own passion and interest without any judgement, they are more likely to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the society.
Most of the time a person chooses their education degree because of societal and peer pressure. They are afraid that if they follow their own interests then they will not be accepted in society. As a result, they choose a degree that everyone is choosing which hinders personal development. Over time, this may cause frustration, dissatisfaction and a sense of unfulfilled potential in the person.
To solve this problem; families, educators and society as a whole must encourage individuals to explore their interests without the fear of being judged. Carrier choices should be guided by their interests, skills that provide life long satisfaction to them. When people are motivated to choose a career path aligned with their interest then they are more confident, stress free and can be successful in both personal and professional life.
In conclusion, life cannot be measured by a fixed timeline. In this life everyone has the right to chase their passion. No one should be judged for what they are doing. Everyone should get a chance to show their ability. Choosing a different path than everyone does not mean that they are unsuccessful but it’s their unique identity that helps to make them successful.
