Candidates visiting WU this week
September 15, 2014
Two names that will appear on Kansas ballots this November will be making stops at Washburn this week to visit with the student body.
On Wednesday, Sept. 17 Greg Orman, the independent candidate for U.S. Senate will stop by campus to speak about his vision for a more effective U.S. Congress. Orman, who is vying for the seat currently held by Pat Roberts, will speak from noon – 1 p.m. in Henderson 100.
The following day, Thursday, Sept. 18, Jean Schodorf, former republican member of the state Senate and current democratic candidate for Kansas Secretary of State, will be on campus. Schodorf will start her day around 10 a.m. with a tour of Washburn. Following the tour, the candidate will head to Memorial Union at noon to eat lunch and visit with students. At 1 p.m., she is scheduled to give a presentation on the importance of voting and a overview of the new voter registration law. Schodorf’s lecture, like Orman’s, will take place in Henderson 100.
Both lectures are free and open to the public. Students are encouraged to attend.
