Advising After Dark kicks off tonight

To help students prep for midterms, Washburn academic advising has expanded its hours and will hold an Advising After Dark open house event in the Mabee Library to spread the word.

“We have a lot of evening students who are hard pressed to get here by 5:30 p.m., let alone advising appointments by 5 p.m.,” said Jeannie Cornelius, interim director of advising in a campus-wide announcement. “When we moved to the library, there was a great opportunity to be open earlier and later.”

The Advising After Dark open house kicks off at 7 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 1, in the Mabee Library. Students are welcome to stop by to visit with academic advisers and staff from the Center for Student Success. Mabee Library staff is also offering free pizza and there will be a showcase on careers in higher education.

The extended hours, which will be followed whenever classes are in session are: The extended hours are: Monday and Wednesday: 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mabee Library operates on a 24-hour schedule from 1 p.m. Sunday through 5 p.m. Friday when school is in session and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
