The people behind the community
According to Gibson, “Approximately 1500 people are part of the Tegucigalpa trash dump community. These men, women and children scavenge their livelihood from the garbage. In an 8-hour day, one worker can make the equivalent of $2-4 per day by salvaging cardboard and plastic bags from the refuse brought to the dump.”
