Ichabod golf squad takes 8th in Oklahoma

The Ichabod golf team traveled to Oklahoma City to compete in the Central Oklahoma Broncho Invitational earlier this week. They finished tied for eighth place as team with a score total of 617. Central Oklahoma took home a win with a total score of 596 for both days of the tournament.

The top golfer for the Ichabods was Topeka-native Ronnie McHenry. He shot a 73 the first day and then followed that up with a 74 on the second day.  McHenry’s 147 for both days had him tied for fourth place in the individual category for the tournament. Behind McHenry was Ivan Amarillo, who shot a 72 the first day and a 79 the second day. This left him tied for 23rd place. McHenry’s was named MIAA golfer of the week for his performance at the UCO Broncho Invitational.

The other four member of the team were Alex Green, Tristian Abts, Jordan Hecker and Tavin Dugan. Green and Abts finished tied for 48th and 54th places for the tournament. While Hecker and Dugan finished tied for 59th place and 63rd place. The golfer who won the individual title was Stefan Idstam from Southwestern Oklahoma State. Idstam posted scores of 66 in the first round and a 77 on the second round.

The Ichabods will try to win their second title of the spring next week when they head to Louden, Tenn., for the Tennessee River Rumble Intercollegiate Invitational, which runs March 29-31.
