Washburn University hosts health career fair

Washburn University is dedicated to providing post-graduation opportunities to its students. In this case, specifically to health care majors who are looking to get their foot in the door for employment.

On Wednesday Oct. 14 Washburn University Career Services organized a Health Care Career Fair for students looking to be recruited in health care-related positions. The event was held from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Washburn A and B Room in the Memorial Union.

Students dressed up and brought resumes to many possible future employers. There was a range of employers from hospitals, nursing homes and health care businesses. The event was tailored toward job opportunities in the medical field, as well as the opportunity for students to ask professionals questions they may have about the field.

“It’s nice that Washburn Career Services has a separate health career fair available for us,” said Christina Weyand, freshman occupational therapy assistant major. “It allows us to be able to speak one-on-one with future employers. We’re able to get the information we need going into the health career field.”

Washburn University will host another health career fair in the spring semester. For more information, contact Career Services at (785) 670-1450, or email Gary Handy, [email protected].
