Washburn volleyball picks up wins and losses

On Friday November 6th, the lady Ichabod’s sweeps Lindenwood 3-0 at Lee Arena.

The Ichabod’s come out with a bang in the first match leading the Lions 6-1, then proceeding to stretch the lead to 13-4. As the Ichabod’s took the early lead, it helped them wrap up the first match with a final score of 25-16.

In the second set, the teams were much closer, with the lady Ichabod’s up 12-9, a kill from Willer gave the Ichabod’s a run with a score of 18-10.  When the lady Lions stopped the run with two points of their own, the Ichabod’s answered back with kills from Selk, Thompson, and Vicory putting the score at 23-12. The Lions couldn’t quite catch up to the Ichabod’s putting the finals score at 25-16.

After intermission, the score was tied at 7-7. Back to back kills from Willer, Swan, and Barrick gave the Ichabod’s some breathing room with a score of 14-9. The lady Lions battled back with a score of 22-20 before Vicory and Willer put up kills to put the game at match point. With a final kill from Thompson ended the match with her third kill of the match.

The Washburn Ichabod’s host No. 13 Central Missouri in an AVCA Top 15 Senior Day Match up at 3pm on November 7th at Lee Arena.

The Ichabod’s saw their nine game winning streak end on senior night when the fell to No. 13 Central Missouri.

At the start of the first set, tied at 13-13, the Washburn Ichabod’s allowed a 6-0 run by the Jennies and couldn’t recover, making the final score, 25-15.

In the second set, the lady Ichabod’s fell behind with a score of 7-2. The lady Ichabod’s tried to climb their way back up, but couldn’t quite make it putting the final score at 25-16.

In the third and final set, the lady Ichabod’s fell behind early again with a score of 11-6 before coming back to score of 17-17. The Ichabod’s had a run of four unanswered, but the lady Jennies came back with two unanswered putting the score at 19-17. With the Ichabod’s hanging on tight, they made it close with a score of 21-20 and 22-21. The Ichabod’s  forced a win by two situation trailing 24-21, but a kill from the Jennies ended the match with a final score of 25-23.

The Ichabod’s travel for their last two games of regular season, traveling to Pittsburg on Friday, November 13th at 7pm and then to Edmond on Saturday, November 14th at 2pm.
