Brief: Guest speaker to discuss Islamophobia
At 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5 in Henderson 112, Cara Burnidge, assistant professor of religious studies at the University of Northern Iowa, will be giving an overview of Islam in America.
The title of the presentation is “Islamophobia: A History of American Attitudes toward Islam.” Burnidge, a Washburn alumna, plans to highlight both the fear and the fascination with the religion, and comment on its role as a strawman to American democracy.
