Math department celebrates National Bubble Week

Spanish Sharma, freshman in computer science, Purnima Bhusal, freshman in nursing, Sneha Kharel, freshman in computer science and Samira Prasai, freshman in nursing, are in shock at the size of the bubble they made. The bubbles they made was one of the biggest bubbles made during the event.

Erica Morales Salinas, sophomore in computer science, and Britney Kaimco, junior in computer science, enjoy some bubble gum. They were excited to try various flavors of bubble gum in the bubble week organized by the Mathematics and Statistics department at Washburn University.

Sarah Cook, associate professor and chair of the Mathematics and Statistics department, explains the cube bubble to students at Washburn. They had materials with various shapes to create a bubble which made the event fun.

Lorena Venegas, freshman in psychology, makes bubbles in the bubble week. She was able to make a huge bubble on her last attempt.

Sarah Cook, associate professor and chair of the Mathematics and Statistics department, and Britney Kaimco, junior in computer science, try to make bubbles in a cube. Cook helped Kaimco with the process.

Sydney Fox, assistant director of Career Services, enjoys making bubbles. She was afraid she would not be able to make the bubbles perfectly but eventually she did it.

Heather Center, assistant director for student accommodations, and Britney Kaimco, junior in computer science, enjoy the bubbles. They were happy to see how the bubbles turned out.

K’Bri Dixon, freshman in nursing, tries on a bubble bracelet. Linda Wilson, administrative specialist and Sarah Cook, associate professor and chair, for the Mathematics and Statistics department, guided her on how to put the bracelet on.

Emma Froese, senior in public relations and advertising, ask what the event was about. She came to know it was an event organized by the Mathematics and Statistics department to celebrate the national bubbles week.
