Toys for Tots welcomed student parents

Attention student parents,

The Toys for Tots reserved an area to distribute toys to children at the Westridge Mall on Wanamaker Road in Topeka.

The Marine corps recognizes that between student loans and regular day-to-day bills, the holidays might have a tight clutch on your wallet for students with children. They advised anyone who is in need of a little helping hand to give their little ones some magic this holiday season. Students stopped by from noon to 3 p.m. The distribution of toys was on a first come-first serve basis.

Anthony Miller, staff sergeant for the reserve unit in Topeka, was volunteering for his second year at the Topeka Toys for Tots distribution.

“Ensuring that every child has a happy Christmas,” Miller said. “I just want to make sure that every child has something to open on Christmas morning.”

Students could stop by to receive gifts for their children, and the marine corps was there to walk through the necessary process if students didn’t know what to do. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Helping less fortunate families give a little Christmas magic to children is what makes the Toys for Tots volunteers happy this holiday season.
