Updates in endangered art: a conservation project

  • “Endangered Art: a conservation project” identifies artworks featured in previous Mulvane Art Museum galleries that need conservation and restoration. It was established in 2017.

  • High Seas: “The Young Sailor” is an oil painting created by Ginerva Ingersoli. Conserving this painting enlivens the portrait genre.

  • Wilderness: “Catskill Mountains” is an oil painting created by David Johnson. Johnson was inspired by his travel to the East Coast when he created this painting.

  • Careful Repairs: “Sheep Fold” is an oil painting created by Alfred Montgomery. This painting was restored by removing soot and painting areas where the original paint was lost.

  • Seaside: “Main Coast” is an oil painting created by David Johnson. The painting was restored by cleaning the surface and in-painting paint less areas.
