3 Ichabods ready for NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field National Championships

Next up is the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships which take place March 12 and 13 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, AL.. The Track and Field Ichabods qualified three athletes to compete at the national meet: pole vaulters Virgi Scardanzan and Rachael Mayberry and hurdler Romain Henry

At the last meet in the MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships that took place on 27-28 Feb. at Washburn’s Indoor Athletic Facility, all three athletes scored a seasonal best to get a better place on the national list.

Scardanzan, the only one of the three with an automatic qualifying mark, jumped a school record setting 4.12m (13-06.25), which is good for a 5th place on the national list. Mayberry jumped over 4.02m (13-02.25), which sets her at an 8th place on the national list. Henry is also set for 8th at the national list with 8.08 sec, which concluded in a school record as well.

Both events will take place on Friday. Henry will start off the Ichabods with the 60m hurdles at 2:15 p.m., the pole vault will start at 6:15 p.m. The finals of the 60m hurdlers will take place on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.. The first outdoor meet will take place March 19 in Emporia, KS.
