Alumni Association makes plans for spring After Hours

The Washburn Alumni Association will kick off its alumni weekend, promote the music department and honor graduating seniors all while enjoying food, drink and conversation this semester during After Hours.

With many athletic events for alumni to attend during March, the Alumni Association will change pace by inviting alumni from the music department to attend After Hours during March. To entertain those alumni and other guests, current students from the music department will attend the event to showcase their skills as they perform scenes from “The Marriage of Figaro.”

“There are not just athletics going on at Washburn, there are also artistic activities going on,” said Norman Gamboa, orchestra conductor and director of “The Marriage of Figaro.” “We want to have that image projected to the community and the alumni.”

“The Marriage of Figaro” will be the first complete production of any opera at Washburn University. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. April 7 and 8 in White Concert Hall.

During May After Hours, alumni and students will meet and mingle with new graduates. Also, the May and March After Hours will include a special invitation to all Washburn faculty.

All After Hours events are in the Bradbury Thompson Center from 5-7 p.m. Admission for dues-paid members of the Alumni Association is free. Entry for non-members is $5.
