Lawlessness is about to reign at Heartland Park Topeka.

The World of Outlaws sprint car series will invade HPT Friday, Sept. 14, at the 3/8-mile high-banked oval. The gates open at 4 p.m. with 6 p.m. time trials and racing at 8 p.m.

Paul Cartwright, manager of drag strip/dirt track operations at HPT, said around 35 sprint cars from the series will be featured with one lap qualifying, heat races, a trophy dash and the ‘A’ main feature. The trophy dash will include the winners of the heat races and will be used to determine their seeding in the feature event. Factory stock will also run at the show as a support class.

Advance tickets run from $30 general admission, $33 reserved to $60 VIP seating. General admission tickets are $32 the day of the race and $35 for reserved. A pit pass can also be purchased with a ticket to the event.

Sept. 14-16 the NHRA Division V E.T. Finals will run on the drag strip at HPT. Races begin 9 a.m. each day. Tickets cost $10 each and are good for one day.

Sprint car racing is handicapped based on elapsed times. The slower car gets a head start appropriate to the difference in times, so in theory, any two cars can be in a competitive drag race.
