According to Whitehouse.gov, Net Neutrality is the equal opportunity of websites and their content to reach consumers. So what is internet traffic? Internet traffic is all of the activity that takes place, on the internet. This includes things that most of us do everyday: reading the news, reading our social media feeds, conducting business, checking email, watching Netflix, etc. We all have our favorite sites and sources to gain knowledge and understanding of the world in our day-to-day living.

Why should we care about Net Neutrality? Net Neutrality is essential to a free and open internet. It allows all legal content and websites equal opportunity to be viewed and to compete with each other online without the intervention of ISPs (Internet Service Providers). As it stands now, ISPs like Comcast and Verizon do not have the right to provide fast-lanes for certain websites that pay more and they are not allowed to turn the internet into an a la carte system of paying for access to websites which could theoretically limit the reach and availability of information.
