On Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at about 5:15 pm, black smoke could be seen coming from the historic building of Topeka High School’s bell tower.  At about 5:55 pm, Topeka Fire crews had the flames under control.

Smoke could be seen from miles away and brought people to come watch as smoke poured out from the historic building.
