Mysterious smell at Henderson

Source of mysterious smell that has been going through Henderson and Stoffer Hall. The roofers are putting a compound on the roof that has a tar-like smell. Process for both buildings should be complete by mid-October.

There is currently some work being done to the roof at both Henderson Learning Center and Stoffer Science Hall on campus. Students and faculty alike have been curious about the mysterious tar-like smell that has been going through both buildings. The source of the smell is coming from a hot solution that the roofers are applying on the roof that is a compound that has a similar smell to tar. The process should be complete by mid-October. Due to the humidity, it caused the smell to seem like it was stronger than it actually was.

“Please be patient, we’ll get this done as soon as possible, and the smell will go away,” said Rich Connell, director of facility services.
