Recycling at Washburn University

Recently, recycling on Washburn University’s campus had integrated Shawnee County’s Curbside Recycling program. Although there aren’t curbside services coming on WU’s campus, the Facilities Services employees have worked out a way to be able to use the single-source recycling for the trash they collect.

Because this is new on campus, The Village, a dorm on the southwest corner of campus, doesn’t currently have access to the single streaming. Mike Jauken, Facilities Services employee who does most of the recycling, says that if it’s wanted he can make sure to get a blue bin put outside for residents to use.

One Washburn student, Kayla Wright, says she would definitely use it if it were available.
