Women in Science Day – volunteers and lab leaders needed!

Hello everyone!

The ninth annual Women in Science Day will be held at Washburn University on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 (which falls during WU’s fall break). Labs will be held in the morning and late morning/early afternoon, and the event also includes a lunch, speakers and a quiz show. The event is free for participants and open to female seventh graders in Topeka and the surrounding communities to encourage an interest in science. Last year we had over 200 participants and 15 different labs for them to choose from!

Because an event like this takes lots of volunteers, I am looking for individuals interested in organizing and running science labs, or anyone that would just like to help out the day of the event (most helpers are needed between 9AM and noon). Labs can cover any scientific discipline and we are always excited to have new labs, so please let me know if you might be interested in running a 45 minute lab session.

If you are interested in volunteering, or would like additional information, please send me an email or call me at 670-2078. If you know of anyone off-campus that would like to participate in this event, please feel free to forward this email to them. Thanks!!
