Icahbod soccer to start season under new coach
September 6, 2015
Washburn women’s soccer starts its 13th season this year, and the Bods are looking forward to having a great season with first year head coach Chris Jones.
The Ichabods were picked 12th in the MIAA preseason coaches poll for the 2015 season.
Coach Jones was named the Washburn Ichabod soccer head coach on July 10, 2015 becoming the second coach in the program’s history after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Fort Hays State.
The Ichabods have three seniors: Whitney Skinner, Bailey Wobig and Sara Specht to help lead a very young team this year. Other key returners are: Cadence Bourne, Emily Stauffer and Michelle Keleher.
Stauffer is the Ichabods’ returning goal scorer with two from last season and Specht led the team with three assists last season. Coach Jones and company open up with a game against Minot State (North Dakota) on September 3 at 6 p.m. in Yager Stadium.
