Lady Viagra was recently given FDA approval, begging the question: Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

According to sciencemag.org, there is still research being done on the drug’s possible side effects. For example, we do not yet have any definitive data on how Lady Viagra affects the brain. However, numerous reports of headaches, nausea and dizziness have been cited as possible side effects from the drug.

Addyi works by increasing a women’s libido, or sex drive. The studies that have been conducted so far show that Lady Viagra does successfully increase sex drive in its users.

So the question still remains whether or not this drug is good medical development or not. Should women use drugs to enhance their libidos, or accept them for what they naturally are?

Due to involvement of the topic of sex, Addyi is receiving a great bit of controversy. The women of the Washburn all have various opinions on the matter.

Some students like Amber Owings, senior computer science major, believe the drug is a good idea.

“I guess if some people need it, then by all means,” said Owings.

Others such as Kelsey Johnson, freshman early education major, think it is a bad idea.

“I just feel like it’s better if it’s just natural…I just do not think it is healthy in the long run,” Johnson said.

Many students confessed to having never heard of the new drug. However, this is likely due to the relative newness of the drug. It will be interesting to see how opinions on the matter change as the drug gets more attention and whether or not it becomes more popular.

Good, bad or otherwise, Addyi is now a thing. Only time will tell with this new medical advancement.
