Brief: Campus discussion with guests from Dallas PD

Members from the Dallas Police Department will be discussing with students and faculty about the recent violence against police and the use of force Sept. 13 in Henderson 100 5:30 to 7 p.m. They will also be discussing the recent shootings in their city.
Over the past few months, there has been an increase in both violence against civilians and the police. There have been several officer involved shootings with unarmed individuals, including the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.
Micah Xavier Johnson, a former Army Reserve veteran, ambushed and fired upon a group of police officers July 7 in Dallas, Texas. He killed 5 officers, injured 9 others and 2 civilians were also wounded.
This discussion is open to all Washburn students, faculty, staff and the Topeka community. The guest speakers will be answering questions, providing information and recruiting for their department.
