The “Hocus Pocus” movie night was held at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center Wednesday, Oct. 30 in the SRWC gym at 7 p.m. Students were able to watch a classic Halloween movie with friends while meeting new people.
Snacks were provided and that included popcorn, trail mix and hot chocolate with marshmallows. There were also custom rubber ducks that had spooky designs and costumes on them.
Dean Stewart, freshman forensic major, shared his favorite part of the night.
“I got four ducks, rubber ducks and they all got different Halloween designs,” Stewart said.
The ducks served as a way to boost the Halloween spirit of the students while they watched the movie. The location allowed people to work out and watch a movie if they wanted, or even watch a movie and go work out afterward.
Kory Mcfan, freshman criminal justice major, shared that he also enjoyed the added fun of picking out ducks to take home. He also admitted he had not planned to attend the event but was drawn by the promise of a fun movie and the opportunity to enjoy the snacks.
Taylor Romanchek, event organizer and Homecoming intern, mentioned that the unfavorable weather risked cancellation of the event but was hopeful next year’s turnout would be better.
“Hopefully the [Homecoming] intern next year will try again and we will not have crazy weather because, of course, we want our students safe,” Romanchek said.
Despite the inclement weather, students enjoyed the movie night and spent some time Hocus Pocusing around.
